The amazing Amazon basin contains 6 million sq. kms of river and jungle and spans 8 countries with just over half in Brazil. The wildlife of the Pantanal wetlands which is about half the size of France is home to giant river otters, anacondas, iguanas, jaguars, cougars and crocodiles.  This huge wilderness of swamps and marshes appeals at any time of year but the dry season from April to September is particularly popular with the bird and wildlife enthusiasts.
