The country is most famous for the well-preserved archaeological and cultural remains of one of the world’s great civilisations – the pre-Columbian Incas. |

Machu Picchu the world famous ‘lost city’ was hidden for hundreds of years and is found perched on a hilltop in the sub-tropical foothills of the Andes.
Additionally, there are the ruins of other Inca citadels in the neighbouring Sacred Valley and the preserved city of Cuzco, |

whose colonial structures were built on Inca foundations. Most European, North American and Australian citizens do not require a visa for Peru, but it is always advisable to first check with the local consulate or embassy. |
